Acceptance of Terms
By installing and using Canvas Tab Shield ("the Extension"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the Extension.
Description of Service
Canvas Tab Shield is a Chrome extension that provides protection against Canvas tab switching detection and AI Trojan Horse tracking elements. Canvas features operate locally on your device. Paid access uses Stripe Checkout and a license-verification backend as described in the Privacy Policy.
Acceptable Use
Permitted Uses
You may use the Extension for:
- Legitimate academic work
- Educational purposes
- Personal study and research
- Any lawful purpose that complies with your institution's policies
Prohibited Uses
You may not use the Extension to:
- Violate academic integrity policies
- Cheat on exams or assignments
- Circumvent legitimate educational monitoring
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Harm or interfere with Canvas or other systems
User Responsibilities
Academic Integrity
- You are responsible for complying with your institution's academic integrity policies
- The Extension does not excuse violations of academic honesty
- Use the Extension responsibly and ethically
Technical Requirements
- Ensure you have a compatible Chrome browser
- Keep the Extension updated
- Report any technical issues through appropriate channels
Intellectual Property
Extension Rights
The Extension and its code are protected by intellectual property laws. You may:
- Use the Extension for its intended purpose
- Not modify, reverse engineer, or distribute the Extension
- Not remove or alter any copyright notices
User Content
The Extension does not collect or store any user content. All data remains on your device.
Privacy and Data
Billing information
The extension does not send Canvas credentials, browsing history, assignment content, or academic records to the billing service. Stripe processes payment and billing details. The backend stores license and payment identifiers needed to verify access, as described in the Privacy Policy.
Paid Access
When billing is enabled, payment is required to use both extension features. The price and currency are displayed in the extension and on Stripe Checkout before purchase.
- Monthly access renews automatically until canceled through Manage subscription. Access continues while Stripe reports the subscription as active and its paid period has not ended.
- A day pass is a one-time purchase providing 24 hours of access from the successful Stripe charge timestamp.
- Lifetime access is a one-time purchase with no recurring charge or fixed entitlement end date.
- Uninstalling the extension or deleting its local data does not cancel monthly billing.
- Save your license key to restore access after reinstalling or on another browser. A lost key requires manual support with proof of purchase.
- License verification requires the billing service periodically. A verified certificate allows up to 24 hours offline, bounded by the plan's access period.
- A full refund revokes the refunded purchase. Disputed payments and fraud warnings can suspend a license pending review. Contact support for billing issues.
- Changes to protection apply when Canvas is reloaded.

Limitation of Liability
IN NO EVENT SHALL THE DEVELOPERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE USE OF THE EXTENSION.
